The story of Louis Martini is a key chapter in Napa's winemaking history. Genovese immigrant Louis Martini established his first business in 1922, smack in the middle of Prohibition (in force in the US from 1919 until 1933). He was therefore limited to making "sacramental and medicinal" wines at first.
